Item No.: 7912 Price : SOLD
Item : SUPERB, WWII GERMAN WALTHER K43 SEMI-AUTOMATIC RIFLE
Description :
This is an original, WWII, German K43 Semi-automatic rifle produced by Walther. Dubbed "Hitler's Garand", the K43 was chambered for the standard 7.92mm cartridge (8mm Mauser). Originally produced as the Gewehr 43, It was re-designated the Kar43 when production was simplified. The K43 is about 2" shorter, has a larger trigger guard, and incorporates some machining changes made to simplify production. First fielded in Russia in late 1943, the G/K43 came into more general use in 1944 and 1945 in a sniper role, and in the hands of specialized troops. This rifle is in very fine to excellent condition. It retains about 95% of its wartime finish. The butt plate is developing a brown patina. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is very fine, with only a couple of tiny dings from storage. There is a small, 1 1/2" crack in the laminated stock at the toe of the butt, caused by the lower butt plate screw. The numbered parts are all matching. The rifle is marked "K 43 ac" just ahead of the serial number and has several Waffenamt markings. The magazine is marked with the "gcb" manufacturer's code, K43, and a Waffenamt. It has a gray phosphate finish. Included is an original, WWII leather sling. The G/K43 rifle is a highly desirable WWII arm. This is the best one I have ever had. Stock no. 20808
