Here is an early percussion short Jaeger rifle manufactured by Liege. The lock is marked "A. FRANCOTTE Bte A LIEGE". It has a 22" barrel of about .65 caliber. This is a higher grade gun with beautiful engraving on the lock, hammer, breech, trigger guard, and tang. The gun has an overall smooth brown patina. The mechanics work well, but the hammer is missing the nut that held it in place. The bore is very good with strong rifling. There is some light pitting in the grooves, but the lands are smooth and shiny. The stock is finely checkered, but only in good condition. There are two cracks, one through each barrel key escutcheon, on the right side of the stock. One of the barrel keys has had its decorative head broken off. There is a chip on the horn fore end tip. The wood is a dark brown with several dings from use. Stock no. 20744
