ORIGINAL, PENNSYLVANIA FLINTLOCK LONG RIFLE
Description :
This is an original, Flintlock "Kentucky" Long Rifle, probably made ca. 1810 in Pennsylvania. It has a very nice brass patchbox with 5 piercings and six German silver inlays. This rifle has a 40" barrel of about 40 caliber. The lock appears to be original to the gun. All the iron has a very dark brown patina. The bore is very dark as well, but has deep cut rifling along its length. The lock needs some work. The hammer does not fall when the trigger is pulled.
The front lock plate screw is missing. There is some missing wood behind the lock. The lower butt plate screw is loose. The stock has been restored to its original length. There is a joint right at the ramrod entry pipe. The rifle has a beautiful patchbox and great lines. It would be perfect for hanging over the fireplace and is reasonably priced! #20607
