Description :
|
Here is an original, Model 1826 U.S. Navy single shot pistol manufactured by Simeon North in 1828. Originally a .54 caliber flintlock, it has been arsenal converted to a percussion gun for service in the Civil War. It is in very good condition. The entire gun is finished in the bright, which has been cleaned. There is fine pitting present, especially in the area around the breech at the nipple. There is some denting of the trigger guard and one small dent on the underside of the barrel band. The bore is very good, dark, but mostly smooth. The stock has a few small dings from use, but there is a hairline crack extending through the trigger area up along the left side to the breech. The pistol retains its original belt hook. This is a scarce pistol that displays well. #20589
