ENGLISH, PATTERN 1851 ADAMS .46 CAL. PERCUSSION REVOLVER

This is a Civil War era Adams Double Action Percussion Revolver of .46 caliber. The Adams is an English arm, but a number were imported into the United States during the war. They were privately purchased and carried by officers on both sides. This revolver is in fine condition, with traces of its blued finish remaining. The majority of the revolver has a very smooth dark pewter gray patina. The bore is very good with strong rifling and the chambers are smooth. The mechanics work very well. The finely checkered one-piece wooden grip is in very fine condition with no chips or cracks. The barrel and frame are forged in one piece, with the top flat marked "DEANE ADAMS & DEANE., 30 KING WILLIAM ST., LONDON BRIDGE.". This is a very high quality arm.
