RICHARDS CONVERSION OF A COLT MODEL 1860 ARMY
Description :
This is a Colt Model 1860 Army that has been converted fire .44 Rimfire cartridges. It is a factory Richard's Conversion. The Richard's was the most successful conversion and became one of the first true Western six-guns. This is in good to very good condition. There is no finish left, the metal having a mottled dark brown/pewter gray color. The brass trigger guard has a nice golden brass patina. This revolver has its original, Colt factory ivory grips. They are in fine condition, but there is a chip on the toe of the right grip panel. The bore is actually pretty good, dark with some light pitting, but strong visible rifling along its length. The chambers are dark but smooth. The mechanics need a little work. The hammer will not stay at full cock and the cylinder has some play when the hammer is down. The revolver is mis-matched. The grip does not match the frame, but this is not uncommon with conversions. This is a fine old relic of the Great American West and a true "Cowboy" gun.
