EARLY, FANCY KNUCKLE BOW, U.S. EAGLE HEAD SABER, CA.

Description :

|
This is an early American Cavalry or Artillery saber, circa 1810-1820. It is in the style of an eagle head sword, but the pommel features a crouching eagle on a federal shield. It features a fancy, ornate knuckle bow guard with acanthus leaves and heavy beaded detail. The white bone grip is nicely carved. The deeply curved blade has a dark brown patina with pitting along its length. Traces of the original gold wash are present. This is a nice early American sword.
