FINE, UNTOUCHED, BRITISH 3RD MODEL BROWN BESS MUSKET

This is an original, British 3rd Model Brown Bess .75 caliber flintlock musket. Officially designated The Pattern 1809 Musket, it was the last production version of the venerable "Brown Bess". This is the musket of the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812. It is distinguished by its stronger, double throated cock. Most importantly, this is a government musket with British military markings and not a commercial musket. It is in fine, untouched condition. All the iron parts exhibit a dark brown patina. The brass furniture has a nice dark bronze patina. The bore is dark and has some pitting. The mechanics work, but could use a little tweaking. The stock is a nice, dark orange-brown walnut color. There is a little light chipping at the barrel tang and around the lock plate behind the cock. This is a strong example of a very historically important musket.
