FINE, EARLY MARLIN MODEL 39 LEVER ACTION .22 RIFLE
Description :
This is a Marlin Model 39 lever action .22 caliber rifle. These were manufactured from 1922-1938. These rifles were extremely popular and are generally worn out when found. This one is in fine to very fine condition, retaining 90-95% of its factory blued finish on the barrel, magazine tube, hammer and bolt. The nose cap is beginning to turn brown. The lever and receiver were case hardened and the case colors have faded to a smooth brown patina. The stock is fine with just a few tiny dings. The hard rubber butt plate has a little wear at the heel, but no chips or cracks. The rifle did have sling swivels installed. The stud has been removed on the stock and the hole filled. The stud remains on the nose cap. The entire magazine tube on these early guns slides forward to reveal the loading port. This one won't budge, so a little tweaking is in order. In my opinion, this rifle, and its later incarnations, are among the finest .22 rifles ever produced.
