FINE, 1908 DWM COMMERCIAL 9MM LUGER

Here is a 1908 Commercial Luger by "Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken (DWM)" chambered for the 9mm Parabellum cartridge. These pistols were made for export and/or commercial sale and differ from the military guns in some respects. The individual parts are not numbered. There is no shoulder stock lug, and the chamber area is not marked or dated. There is no "hold back" of the toggle when the last round is expended (the reason for which I can not fathom!). This pistol is in fine to very fine condition. It retains about 95% of its original blued finish. There is light holster wear at the muzzle, the very highest corners of the frame and the high points of the sideplate. Most of the straw color on the treated parts remains. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The checkered wood grips are very fine, but someone took it upon themselves to scratch the letter "K" on the left grip panel. The included magazine is a period correct, original military magazine, but not original to the gun. It has some dark speckling of its finish. These "DWM" produced Lugers were generally better made than their "Erfurt" counterparts. This is a beautiful, early Luger.
