SUPERB CIVIL WAR US MARINE CORPS NON-COMMISIONED OFFICERS SWORD AND SCABBARD

32 1/2 Inches overall with a brilliant 26 1/2 inch, straight, single-edged blade. Blade retains 99% plus of the original factory polish. 8 inch etched panel in center of blade on left boldly marked "U.S.M.C.". Left ricasso etched with makers name "Horstmann/Phila". One piece brass hilt with left guard turned down. Guard is a deep, untouched golden mustard patina. Blade still retains it's red leather scabbard pad. Black saddle leather scabbard with brass mounted throat and scabbard.Leather is bright black but has a few wrinkles and a bend in the middle from age. Thicker brass than you see on the Army M-1840 NCO Swords with two mounting screws on both throat and drag. Fits the sword perfectly with the exact same patina as the hilt. Outstanding Sword and Scabbard.
