"25-25" or .58 Caliber British Manufactured P-1853 Rifle Musket. One of the hundreds of thousands brought in to both North and South during our Civil War. Beautiful smooth barrel with crisp gauge and Birmingham proofs at the left breech. Fine lock with "Tower/1861" and "Crown" to the rear. This is important. No British Military Proofs or Acceptance Marks. Fair bore, excellent mechanics. Handsome brass furniture at trigger guard, buttplate and stock cap. Retains original sling swivels and ram rod. Fine oil finished stock with sharp edges on lock and flats and along barrel and ram rod channel. Far better than I usually encounter.
