Item :	MARYLAND ISSUED US MODEL 1810 FLINTLOCK MUSKET BY STEPHEN JENKS

.69 Caliber Smoothbore US Martial Long Arm. Appears to be in the original flintlock configuration. 42 Inch smooth plum barrel is a mixture of brown and black patina. "M" stamp 1 3/4 Inch from the breech shows Maryland Ownership. Large, deep "L" on the right breech right above the touch hole is a condemnation stamp. Very fiine lock with just a simple 1812 period eagle perched on an oval "US". This is the third type lock mark used by Stephen Jenks and Son of Providence, RI. Jenks is known to have delivered 276 Muskets to Maryland during the War of 1812. Missing the rear sling swivel with it's post and the ram rod is a M1842, otherwise the iron furniture is in fine condition with the same pleasing patina as the barrel and lock. Very good original stock has an old drying crack from the lock bolt to the barrel channel for about 6 inches. This has not separated and is only missing a tiny slivver. "LS" Sub inspectors initials behind the trigger guard.some rack wear at the butt but this does not detract. All in all a very nice musket with State Association during the War of 1812.
