Description :

|
.69 Caliber Smoothbore Cone In Barrel Percussion Conversion Of 1839 Dated M1816 Springfield Musket. Just beautiful, untouched condition. Barrel is a bright smooth plum patina that looks almost like a lacquer brown finish. Super proofs at left breech and 1839 date on tang. Fine lock again has superb markings and swirls of darkened case color hardening. Untouched smooth plum iron furniture. Complete with both sling swivels and button tipped M1816 ram rod. Near perfect, un-handled stock with two beautiful cartouches at the left flat and sub inspectors cartouches and letters on almost every other part. Bright bore, perfect mechanics. How this one got out of hard service early during the Civil War is a mystery.
