SCARCE COLLINS # 17 BOWIE KNIFE IN NEAR PERFECT NO# 10 LEATHER SCABBARD

14 1/2 Inches overall with a bright, Bowie Shaped 9 3/4 Inch blade. Blade has been lightly sharpened with a stone. Crisp Collins markings and address on left flat. The No$ 17 marking has been over stamped with an 8 or 5 to make it appear as an "8". Beautiful bronze guard and pommel. The leather "corrugated" grips have takken on the color and appearance of old wood and are in near perfect condition. Beautiful Collins NO# 10 leather scabbard with nickled drag and integral belt loop. Handsome embossing on the front. These knives are early with a starting date of 1875! Many of these were carried into the Indian Wars, Spanish American War and Boer War by their owners. Fine overall!
