.58 Caliber Percussion Single Shot US Martial Hand Gun with Original Detachable Shoulder Stock. 12 Inch barrel is in the bright. Crisp proofs on left flat. light to moderate pitting on top flat and around the bolster. Crisp date, "1855" on barrel tang. Fine three leaf flip up rear sight. Fine lock dated "1856" to the rear of the hammer. Sharp Springfield marks to the front of the lock. The eagle on the Maynard Primer door is worn but still fully visible. Perfect mechanics. Maynard assembly still has a roll of caps inside. Good bore. Fine original iron captive rammer. Handsome brass mounts on both pistol and shoulder stock. Both stock and Pistol are numbered "1". This was done with the same die. Retains both sling swivels on barrel band of pistol and near the toe on the butt stock. Fine oil finished stocks with clear, readable cartouche on the left flat of the pistol. These pistols are pretty rare with only about 4,000 produced. It could not compete with the readily available multi-shot revolvers and faded into obsolescence early during the Civil War.
