.40 Caliber Percussion Half Stocked Target Rifle. 34 Inch octagon to round barrel with fitted false muzzle and origiinal iron bullet starter. Hooded front sight and iron lollipop rear sight. Barrel stamped "J. Brown" on left flat near breech. Handsome barrel with 50% original blue mixed with a plum patina. Back action percussion lock manf, by Lane and Read of Boston. Brass trigger guard and buttplate. Handsome walnut stock keyed to barrel. Very handsome rifle of the 1850's. Excellent bore and mechanics.
