.36 Caliber Six Shot US Navy Hand Gun. Serial number# 27569. Smooth slate gray overall with fine Whitney mark on top of barrel next to a tiny "Anchor" just forward of the top strap. Lever is mis-matched but this revolver may have stayed in US Naval Service until the 1880's so this is not unusual. Barrel, Cylinder, frame and loading lever are all the same pleasing patina. Golden brass trigger guard. Fine two piece oil finished walnut grips. Fine bore and chambers. Excellent mechanics. The US Navy purchased 4,300 Whitney "Navy" Revolvers during the Civil War. Very good condition overall.
