.54 Caliber Percussion Breechloading US Cavalry Carbine. SN# 11915. First Model with brass patchbox, trigger guard and buttplate and barrel band. Barrel and lock are slightly and evenly salt and peppered with the feel of an egg. Fairly clear Merrills Patent markings on lock. Fine mechanics, excellent bore. Nice even color on brass. Stock has seen much use as would be expected on these early War carbines.
