REVOLUTIONARY WAR "QUEENS RANGERS" BROWN BESS MUSKETOON
Description :
.75 Caliber Flintlock British Military Long Arm. Started life as a 2nd Model Brown Bess Infantry Musket with 42 inch barrel. Firearm was shortened overall to 44 inches with a 28 inch cavalry length barrel. Barrel is a deep ancient black patina with the early style center marked barrel proofs. Forward of the proofs "Queens Rangers" is crisply engraved in the correct period manner. Corrosion around the flash pan and barrel is light to moderate but shows this was definitely a combat arm. Fine "Tower"-"GR" engraved lock is a deep plum patina. Fine 2nd Model raised brass furniture is a deep, deep ancient blackish patina. Acorn shaped wrist escutcheon is engraved, "A/130". Flat brass side plate. Sling swivels have been removed because this was used as a mounted carbine. Original ramrod has been shortened to fit the musket. The "Queens Rangers" were American Loyalists formed up in 1776 to serve the British Crown under the legendary Robert Rogers of French and Indian War Fame. The Regiment served in almost every campaign of the British Army in America, eventually expanding to 11 companies including Infantry, Rifles, Highlanders, Hussars and Dragoons. Obviously this arm could be narrowed down to the mounted services. Historic Revolutionary Firearm.
