EARLY ENGLISH MORTUARY HILT SWORD TURNED INTO OPEN HILT CUTLASS

Description :

32 Inches overall with a slightly curved 25 1/2 inch blade. I think this old iron sword would date to the 1600's but was converted to a Cutlass later. Deep plum colored blade, half guard and pommel. Blade stamped "PO". Grip has some of the original leather. This was sold to a customer as acRevolutionary War Cutlass. It certainly could have seen use in the Revolution but it is much older in my opinion. Has a nice ancient look to it.
