SHARPS MODEL 1A FOUR BARREL PEPPERBOX .22 DERINGER

Description :
Here is an original Model 1A Four Barrel Pepperbox Deringer manufactured by C. Sharps of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is chambered for the .22 Rimfire cartridge. Made from 1859 to 1874, these little pistols were very popular, and many thousands were produced. Many were purchased and carried by soldiers during the Civil War. The Model 1A has molded gutta percha grips as opposed to the later grips of wood. The pistol has a block of four barrels that slide forward for loading. The firing pin located on the hammer rotates into the next position when the pistol is cocked, allowing all four barrels to be fired in sequence. This pistol is in very fine condition with about 80% of its factory blued finish remaining. The sides of the barrels show a little finish wear. The brass has a nice yellow brass patina. The gutta percha grips are very fine with a very tiny chip on the bottom edge of the right grip. The pistol has excellent mechanics with the firing pin rotating each time it is cocked. The bores are in fine condition. This is an outstanding example of the Sharps Deringer. Stock no. 29830
